Newsletter: December 5, 2017

We live in exciting times. News travels faster than ever before and as a result there is discussion about the role of this newsletter. In terms of keeping you posted on upcoming rides, and ride reports, Facebook for the many that have it is a convenient and timely way to receive this information. By the time this newsletter rolls around, and lets face it right now it’s taking time, its all old news – to most.

For those without Facebook of course, this is an awesome way to read all about it. So thought is being given to what goes in here and how often we push it out. Stand by for further updates on that front as we figure it out.

Christmas Soiree – 16 December 2017


The Christmas Party will be barefoot bowls from 5 pm at Chermside Bowls Club 468 Rode Road, Chermside. Entry will be for members and their partners at a cost of $10 each. Barefoot Bowls and meal will be provided. Drinks at own expense.

Tick tock – RSVP to Brian Hornby ( by Thursday 7th December 2017 with money to be transferred into AudaxQLD bank account. Check your email from Wednesday, 8 November 2017 for details.

No late entries will be accepted as the numbers have to be finalised with the club.

Applying for awards – get cracking today


For the 2016-17 season ending 31-Oct-2017 single season & annual awards applications are through a new online tool. This will dramatically reduce administration work, and should make it faster and easier to apply for awards.

Please follow this link – you will need to login to the portal using the email address and password used for the membership site. If you’ve forgotten that password you can reset your password.

The tool will allow you to select the brevets recorded against your name.


Due to the number of requests and time taken to process, applications must be submitted by e-mail, no postal applications. Email to:  Applications must be typed in the electronic forms provided (Please do not print the forms and hand-write your details).

The Awards Policy documents the individual criteria for each awards.


Audax Australia multi-season Ultra Randonneur or Australian Randonneur Awards have closed.

The closure date for applications for Audax Australia single season awards or the Woodrup 5000 Award is 15 December so get cracking if you haven’t done it yet.

11 OUT OF ELEVEN (2018)

Ride all 11 bike permitted bridges across the Brisbane River. This ride follows along the river with a couple of small climbs. A great way to shake off the 2017 cobwebs, complete with a nice shady spot for the checkpoint across from the Uni.

COLT45 (2018)

A gallop (or leisurely trot) across blacktop, backroads and gravel. Starting and finishing at the Tolga Pub, this scenic route embraces the Tablelands; green open pastures, fresh fields of produce and views of Lake Tinaroo.

    Great reports Tara! It pissed down of BPB last year too. According to Lindsay Green: “Ideal dust free riding conditions”.

      It wasn’t too heavy at any point on the course itself, it was just relentlessly damp the entire time. I had more than my fair share of truck spray. Mark Harris took some great mud-stripe pictures.
